the dream team on fridays

i really don't like putting all my eggs in one basket and i apply the same philosophy in friendships.  don't get me wrong, i have favorite friends; however, i've always been that girl that prefers lots of friends to an exclusive 'bestie'.

unfortunately, these two are cringe-worthy besties.  it's not me but it's just easier that way.  they are both the youngest at home with mom all day, they live in the same neighborhood and ward, and they are the dream team of playdates.  (in fact, i often adopt this bestie for the day for entertainment.)

but fridays- fridays are an entirely different story.  when besties turn into two cranky little girls and a whole lot of work,  i try hard to avoid fridays with the dream team.  this past friday though i was tasked with watching the dream team for the entire day.  i heard choruses of 'manny' over and over through the house from her overly tired, needy friend  accompanied by dalia's overly tired, bossy tone.  imagine me overindulging on weight watchers points.  imagine me saying over and over 'Dalia, use your sweet as peach icecream voice please!'  (check out the reference- screamy mimi is one of the best books we own!)  and imagine the crankies dave got when he came home!  i am very glad they have eachother but it was a very long day.

the time cryer

jack pays autistic-like attention to time.*  at least 3 times a day, he can be heard randomly calling out the time.  it isn't to anyone really, it rarely serves a purpose, and he doesn't expect a response.  i've tried considering the reasoning behind it but i've concluded (as did christopher in the curious incident of the dog in the night-time), "Prime numbers are what is left when you have taken all the patterns away."  maybe this time cryer is just calling out prime numbers... 

*it should be noted that odd time-stamping behavior never occurs during bath time!

snow for days and snow days

having waited all winter for more than an inch to play in, there was finally snow.  snow for days and snow days.  church was cancelled, school was cancelled, school resumed for a day only to get more snow, and school was cancelled again!  ...let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
